An Au Ra banished from her people, delving into the untested waters of alchemy to regain her control over her own Aether. Waters that turned the slim, graceful handmaiden-in-training into an woman with a figure that turned heads in any room she stood.
Origins
Originally from Sui-no-Sato, it was determined early in her life that Pandora lacked the simple ability to control Aether. A rare occurrence amongst the populace of Othard, and one that would ruin any chance the handmaiden-in-training would have of properly serving the Ruby Princess.While a rare occurrence, those with Pandora's issues were to be exiled from the City under the Sea. However, with the Garlean occupation occurring on the lands outside, it was decided that simply letting the young girl go would only bring danger to the city itself. Thus, the elders of Sui-no-Sato decided to secretly break the city's history of non-communication, working to send Pandora off to Ul'Dah, and away from any possible Garlean influences.
Elixirs and Debt
The coin sent alongside the Raen was enough to let her live. Enough to sustain her as she found a new life, while learning to earn her own livelihood. However, that was a tall task for a girl sent to live without the support she'd grown up with, whose only training was that which would be used to serve the Ruby Princess.Thus, with a mix of uncertainty and homesickness, more and more of the gil bestowed upon her was gifted to the Alchemy Guild. Members were intrigued by her condition. Giving her false promises of solutions. Elixirs and tinctures forced upon a naïve girl.Elixirs that, unfortunately, only exacerbated her conditions. The once thin figure changing with each tonic. Figure filling out. Hair bleaching white. Eyes turning a deep inky black. Only hints of her heritage left. Before long, the gil had simply run out. Every coin spent from her home, yet more promises made by the Alchemists. Promises that could only be funded with coin given from a handful of well-known creditors more than happy to lend to the young Au Ra.
Moving to Sharlayan
Finding herself neck deep in debt, Pandora was struggling to even make ends meet. Serving as an escort on some streets. A waitress on others. Helping manage the books in the Alchemist's and Adventurer's guild. Anything to keep the monthly payments from growing out of control. By the time she was reaching her breaking point, Pandora was pulled in to help assist in a meeting between the Alchemist's Guild and the Leveilleur family.Seeing her talents with books, and other skills, an offer was made to all parties holding debts from the young Raen. The family paid off all her current debts, in exchange for having her work for them and the city of Sharlayan itself.Within three days, the Raen was on a ship bound for The Empty. Suddenly working as a secretary for one of the most influential families in the city. Working as a bookkeeper by day, and an escort by night. A small apartment to call her own, and a better understanding of how she should be learning to live on her own.
Revelations
In recent days, one of Pandora's goals has been to try and learn more about her condition. Trying to solve the dilemma of her innate lack of control over her Aether, and possibly even gain slight control over it. While Ameliance has forbidden her from taking any active efforts to change her situation without approval from those studying her condition in the Studium, she has come into some discoveries on her own.
• Despite not having any control over her Aether, Pandora has an abundance of it within her body. Far more than most others, and far more than should be safe. Too dense for her to move, or even feel.
• When her Aether is forcefully removed, at least at a higher than normal rate, the Raen can feel it. The only time she can feel said sensation. However, it feels so foreign to her that it makes her nauseous to experience. Doing so also starts to return the color to her hair and eyes, though her body stays the same.
• Draining her Aether through artificial means only causes a change for a small amount of time. After a bit, her body appears to absorb the Aether from the area surrounding her.
